Eating reveals much about your personality.  How you hold a knife and fork, to where you place your napkin, to how you sit.  But it’s not just about observing the rules. Table manners are about more than simple customs. Whether you are eating in a fancy restaurant or at home with friends and family, good table manners are a courtesy and will make dining a more pleasant experience.  This one-to-one course teaches you not only how to be an excellent host but how to be the perfect guest and covers all elements of dining etiquette, from the invitation all the way through to the thank you note. By the end of the course you will feel confident about circulating at drinks parties, introducing guests to one another, and dealing with seating plans, toasts, and speeches.  The first part of the course focuses on the theory of dining etiquette and in the second session, you put these skills into practice over a three-course meal. Please note that students will be sent instructions in advance on how to set up the table correctly as well as suggestions for preparing the food.

Afternoon Tea touches on most aspects of etiquette. You learn how to greet people, sit at the table, prepare tea, serve tea, confidently engage in conversation, and eat finger foods. Our online course covers the history of tea, how many cultures serve, and consider both the social and health aspects. We discuss the English history behind High Tea as well as how to host, meet, and greet colleagues. What to expect of the host and how to lay the table settings. You will also learn acceptable attire that has been a tradition for the occasion. Afternoon Tea is perfect for the light-hearted social gathering for any event and social group, whether personal or professional.

This course provides an overview of today’s etiquette rules, updated for today’s fast-paced lifestyles and ever-changing codes of conduct for work and leisure. The role of etiquette has changed over the years. At one time, it served as an indicator of each person’s proper station in life.
